Robinson case must be in private

The legal bid by former MP Iris Robinson to secure a ban onsurveillance and publication of her medical treatment must be heldin private because potential internet disclosure could increase thethreat of self-harm or suicide, Northern Ireland's most senior judgehas ruled.

Lord Chief Justice Sir Declan Morgan said the development ofsocial networking sites meant there was a danger of informationleaking from open court.

In a judgment last night, he said Ms Robinson's right to lifeunder the European Convention on Human Rights meant her applicationfor a long-term injunction must be behind closed doors.
