NSW: NSW gov't will consider tightening guard reguations-Carr

SYDNEY, Aug 3 AAP - The NSW government will consider tightening regulations for security
guards and their use of weapons after a female guard was charged with the murder of a
robber.

Premier Bob Carr said the security industry had been fraught with sloppiness and discipline
problems before a recent government clamp down and he was prepared to go even further.

"We've come a long way in tidying up the security industry and I'm happy to take that
a whole lot further," Mr Carr told reporters.

"There's been a big clean up of this industry and it needed to be cleaned up because
its standards were lax and hopeless."

Yesterday, Sydney security guard Karen Brown was charged with the murder of William
Aquilina, 25, after he assaulted and robbed her of a bag of money outside the Moorebank
Hotel in Sydney's south-west last Monday.
