ONE IF BY LAND AND TWO IF BY WAY OF PICCADILLY CIRCUS.

ARLINGTON, VA -- The following information was released by the American Conservative:

Philip Giraldi

Over at Yahoo someone penned a poem about Sarah Palin's unique take on Paul Revere's ride, in which she said to an audience at Boston's Old North Church:

He who warned the British that they weren't going to be taking away our arms by ringing those bells and, um, making sure as he's riding his horse through town to send those warning shots and bells that, uh, we were going to be secure and we were going to be free.

Listen my children and you shall hear

Of the midnight ride of Paul Revere,

To warn the Brits, or what? Oh, dear

I cannot think, it's not quite clear...

I have it now! And I will tell:

He rode, he shot, he rang the bell,

He told the Brits to go to hell

Defiant, proud and shooting swell.

Through the country dark he road

Through fair New Hampshire, so we're told,

Through field and street, he was right bold

His rifle clutched, a vise-like hold.

"We armed, we're armed!" he shouted wide,

He rang that bell as he did ride,

He shot the dark from side to side,

Uh, wait, I think that, uh, I lied.

I have read it. It is not well-articulated. But it seems to me that she is trying to say that the Ride of Paul Revere was indeed a warning to the British that they were not going to take our guns away. As usual her comments are pulled out of context. Mind you a Glock is not exactly a muzzle-loading rifle. Under "Original Meaning" it seems to me that the Second Amendment guarantees that Americans are entitled to own and possess the firearms that existed at the date of the adoption of the Bill of Rights, just as the right to jury trial and with the adoption of the common law.

So Ferdi, do you also under stand "Freedom of the press" to mean manual printing presses, not all of the technological advances we have had since then? After all, the FF could never have imagined the internet when they wrote that.

Uh Ferdi, Paul Revere actually rode to warn the Americans that the Brits were coming, not to warn the Brits of anything.

I'd like to see "the one" quized on American history. I would venture that the "smartest" president in our history, the greatest orator ever, would be sadly deficient.

Here are a few more gems from Yahoo users:

"Like oh my god, that is so totally why Paul Revere warned the British on his Facebook wall too"

"The Palins are coming! The Palins are coming!"

"'"Part of his ride was to warn the British that were already there.'

So now Revere was riding around warning the British that were already there"

Warning them of what? That MORE British were coming??

Whaa\'??"

What a great poem, ought to rank right up there with Wordsworth's originalawait, now they tell me it was somebody called Longfellow. Didn't he make shoes?

To think that this pinhead might have become Vice President of the U.S. and possibly (she would have been one heartbeat away) President. What a sad commentary on the judgment of John McCain. Of course, what did one expect of somebody who graduated fifth from the bottom of his class at the Naval Academy and lost five planes during his distinguished flying career?

Where did you get that "midnight" nonsense from? According to the Divine Sarah, he rode in daylight, warning the Brits. (I believe that may have been the true source of the "special relationship," which, not coincidentally, the British are said "to revere.")

"Oh, no. That lamestream media's up to their dirty tricks again. Well, by golly, we'll show them. We won't stand for this revisionist history, and we'll continue to stand for Israel, our best friend in the region. We must stay the course, just like George Washington did when he crossed the Sea of Galilee to sneak up on those nasty al Qaeda's."

In all seriousness, it's really an insult to the history of that site, as well as America as a whole, that she wouldn't do some homework when visiting and speaking on an event that occurred right there.

Peace be with you.

Actually, I think Revere was riding, shooting, and ringing bells to let them know The Surge O was coming.

After the Bush/Cheney administration and the current Obama /Biden one I wouldn't necessarily view Palin on the ticket as a step down despite her tendency to speak her mind in areas where she seems ill informed. I think the phrase that fit's is "better to remain silent and have folks think you're a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt."Much too early to tell but I think that a Romney/Huckabee is a strong possibility in 2012.

With this criticism of Palin and Bachmann (Lexington and Concord were moved to New Hampshire) are the liberals finally demanding that traditional American history be taught in the public schools?

To be fair to Ms. Sarah, it is asking a bit much to require a politician to not only be well versed in the details of American history but to be the leading expert on oil and gas (or was that the energy sector?) in the United States (per John McCain). Why, that would be like expecting a strong exponent of family values seeing to it that her daughter practiced safe sex and didn't get knocked up out of wedlock. Sometimes we just put too heavy a burden on our politicians.
